To get a porcelain veneer placed the dentist must first treat an underlying dental problem. For instance, cavities must be filled and gum disease treated. Then, the dentist will buff away part of your natural tooth and take a mold to make your permanent veneer. You will wear a temporary veneer until your custom veneer is made. The custom veneer is fitted and affixed to your tooth with dental cement.
Dental Crowns
Once you tooth is damaged even after the damage is treated you will either want to or need to repair the damaged tooth. One way to repair damaged teeth is by having a dental crown placed. A dental crown protects the natural tooth from further damage and makes your smile more cosmetically appealing.
Before your dental crown is placed your dentist will do a root canal or fill the tooth if necessary. Then, they will shape the tooth and take a mold so they can make the permanent dental crown. You will wear a temporary dental crown until the custom dental crown is made. When the custom dental crown is made it will be fitted to your natural tooth with dental cement.
